2020: The year of the toilet paper shortage?

Remember when we all spent December 31st saying 2020 was going to be our year, the best year ever and the year of the....toliet paper shortage? Yeah, I don't remember including that last part in my 2019 send off either. But really, 2020 has been great, so far it has brought upon us mass chaos, a new pandemic causing disease and has truly brought out the "best" in people. Who knew this new decade would begin with such a bang of its own?

Let me start off by saying I am in zero way undermining the coronavirus. Having medical professionals in my family, I am fully aware of this disease and its capabilities. But with that being said, under the symptoms does it nowhere in their state to be complete a**holes. Seriously people, you do not need enough toliet paper for the next 25 years to get through this. We all need to wipe our asses and wash our hands and if you take all of it, good luck shaking our hands. I don't mean to brag but my four year old knows how to share better then you full grown adults. And quite frankly, she knows how to behave in public a bit more maturely as well.

You see, it isn't this disease that is destroying the human race, it's mankind. It is the way in which people treat eachother. The way in which we see this situation as a survival of the fittest, instead of seeking out the opportunity to help others. The world announces pandemic and suddenly kids are getting pushed out of the way by adults in stores, elders are left to fend for themselves for scraps and new mothers are in fear they won't be able to find food for their babies. We are a first world country and yet somehow, this is the new face of the United States.

To all those who take this as an excuse to act this way, you should be disgusted in yourselves. My mother raised me to always lend a hand where it is needed and I pray you learn that lesson sooner then later. To those who treat this as a way to "rebel" against the government, screw you. You may feel "privileged" and "untouchable" with your age and health, but those you love may not be so lucky. Stop being selfish and inconsiderate idiots, the bars and sports teams will be there months and years from now, but that immunocompromised love one you infected in the process of your "fun" may not. This is not the time to party and live it up, it is the time to hunker down and protect the ones we cherish most, whether you agree with the regulations in place or not. A few weeks or months to spare is nothing in compare to someones life.

I am saddened, disheartned and worried about what this world will come to, what our new normal will soon be. My heart aches for those who's graduations, weddings and most beautifully special moments will be canceled or missed. I pray for those who have been sickened or lost a love one in all of this. I am eternally grateful for all the first responders, medical personal and those who look this evil straight in the face and chose to fight it rather then run. The special human beings who each day put their life on the line for others, often working way too long of days and being away from the comfort and security of their own home and families. I trust that God will lead us in the right direction, that He will place his healing hand over all of us. I believe that we all have the power to stop this, to flatten the curve. All it takes it one to extinguish this flame, promise me you will be that one.

I end this blog with a bit of hope in humanity. Take this time to spend with loved ones, get close and then even closer. Play games, laugh, share memories and cherish each other more then ever. Yes, us moms very well will lose our damn minds in the process (if you haven't already), but remember what you have someone else will always be wishing for. Check on and protect your elders, lend a helping hand or smile where needed and please please be kind. We all need eachother more then ever now. Above all though, I beg you to quarantine and follow ALL protocols in place. You never know when your small gesture may just save a life.

Together I am determined to turn this year around. Let us not crumble under the challenges we may face, but instead may we rise up united as one, stronger then ever before. May we find joy once again in the little things, replenish our hearts with love, strengthen our faith and never lose sight of hope. Remember that each sunrise is a chance for a new beginning, and that each new day we have the power to change the course of history repeating itself. Tomorrow is a new day, what will you choose to do with it?

~Hope is the only thing stronger then fear~
